Whispers of the Andes: Harmonizing with the Frequency of the Earth

As I sit in reflection on the life-altering journey of this past month in the Andes, I find myself asking:
How can words ever capture the essence of what was lived, felt, and remembered in the depths of the soul?

What unfolded was far beyond what the eyes could see, or the ears could hear. It was a frequency—a living pulse beneath every moment—that resonated in the heart and echoed in the spirit. Transmission beyond language, carried on the currents of vibration. Though I have travelled to the Andes and led retreats here before, the energy the earth is even brighter and with such incredible group this year, it was a gift.

The Light of the Andes: A Living Frequency

The light in the Andes has a frequency unlike any other—tangible, present, and alive. It hums high and deep, loving and yet powerful, always moving, always present energy. This living light energy is called kawsay in Quechua. It feels like the mountains are hugging you in each direction. The land is awe inspiring and abundant. Everyone present on our retreat also felt this.
The energy reveals itself only to those who arrive with open hearts, and the innocence of beginners. That was the spirit of our pilgrimage as we opened our hearts. In that sacred alignment, we harmonized. And through that harmony, we connected to Ayni—the ancient Andean principle of sacred reciprocity, the foundational rhythm of life on Earth.

Meeting the Last Living Alta Mesayok: A Living Mountain

There were really countless moments of magic, here is one stands luminous in my memory: the days we sat with 99-year-old Maestra Dona Maria Apaza, the last remaining Altomesayoq.
An Altomesayoq is a high-ranking shaman in the Andean spiritual tradition. They are chosen by the spirits, often through a unique initiation process involving being struck by lightning and surviving. She is recognized for her special communion with the spirit world and her ability to access places that most are unaware.

Ageless and radiant, she is the Earth and stars made flesh—embodying wisdom, power, and presence with the playful innocence of a child and the strength of the mountains she walks with. Her eyes hold the stories of centuries, her voice, the vibration of stone and sky.
She shared the story of her initiation: in her late teens when, she was struck by lightning while walking alone in the mountains. She saw a white rope of lightning and a massive hole opened around her. She said she died there. She woke up later to the smell of burning flesh but none of her tissues were damaged. Though she was called by the mountains at a young age, yet this moment marked her initiation calling by the mountain spirits.

As she walked with us in ceremony, invoking the unseen forces of the Earth, we followed in silent awe. Each of her steps was a blessing, each word, an echo of the living land. She looked up to the approaching rain above us and with a breath opened up the blue sky.

The Message from the Earth

At one point, she invited our questions. I felt moved to ask:
"What message does the Earth hold for humanity in these times of change and uncertainty?"
Her response—spoken in her native Quechua—was more than language. It was a transmission. A message from the Earth herself:

Return to the wisdom of the Earth.

Listen, harmonize and with the mountains, the wind, the rivers.

Let your heart be in Munay—the frequency of unconditional love.

Yes, we’ve heard these words before. But something happens when they’re not just spoken—but embodied.
This transformation in Peru wasn’t about learning; it was about becoming. We were vessels. We didn’t hear the teachings—we received them. Through stillness, through ceremony, through presence, we merged with the Earth. We became the mountain, the sky, the stars. Because we are not separate—we never were.

A Call to Remember

Now, more than ever, the Earth calls us all to live from the heart. To meet life with innocence, humility, and wonder. To let go of what we think we know and allow something ancient and sacred to awaken within us.

A new vision for Earth will not be born from fixing—it will be born from remembering and harmonizing.

Modern life is loud. It pulls us away from communion, from rhythm, from presence. But the Andes is not just a destination. It is a place that lies within our hearts. When met the earth with reverence, it opens into a dimension of deep nourishment, where the Earth herself becomes teacher, healer, and guide.

The Mountain Within

Now, back in North America, I hold close what I remembered:
The mountain, the tree, the sky—they are not “out there.”
They are reflections of the inner world.
We are not apart from nature; we are nature.
And when we remember that we return home.
To feel and embody this truth each day is the medicine we need.
A remedy not only for personal healing, but for the collective soul of humanity.

Practice. Remember. Live.

Let us practice.
Let us remember.
Let us live the wisdom of the mountains the earth and sky.
I feel honored to have guided this journey again to Andes. It is always new and fresh as the earth itself.

Next year's journey promises to be unique as I am feel excited as I secure our dates for next April 2026 at our incredible retreat center in the Andes. If you know you want to join reach out.
May you enjoy the spring season.
