Healing Winds of Change & Tips For Seasonal Balance
The trees are beginning to shimmer with a golden glow as summer slowly kisses us making way for the season of color and change. It is a great time to realign, rebalance and amp up your personal self-care, physically, mentally emotionally and spiritually.
I love summer, and I also deeply appreciate the golden beauty of autumn. There is deep savoring now as we approach the transition of the seasons and days begin to change, evenings become a little cooler, and we can begin to feel the subtle invitation to turn inward.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been immersed in the beauty of the Northwest—surrounded by islands, seals, eagles, ancient trees, and the ever-changing song of the wind.
One evening, I found myself lying in a tent beneath a canopy of magnificent trees, listening as the wild wind moved through the branches and the leaves rustled and danced above. It felt like an extraordinary, powerful, spontaneous sound bath and the wind's healing medicine—nature itself creating the music. Wind is powerful healing element as it dissipates what not longer serves and carries massages and communication of change and transformation.
Now, I am heading to Orcas Island to be part of the Level 2 Sound Healing training staff team. I am excited to share, learn, and experience together the profound inspiration and healing power of sound. Frequency is a powerful medicine.
And perhaps one of the greatest forms of healing is simply learning how to listen.
To the silence between the words.
The quiet beneath the thoughts.
The subtle whispers of your own inner knowing.
As life begins to shift and move more quickly at coming juncture of the seasons, autumn offers us a beautiful invitation to slow down, become grounded, and listen more deeply. Pick up your drum and explore the heartbeat rhythm to ground and steady you in the changing times.
In Ayurveda, autumn is considered the season of Vata, associated with the air and ether elements—light, mobile, dry, and ever-changing. To find balance, we can bring in the opposite qualities: warmth, nourishment, earthiness, stillness, and grounding.
It is a time to nourish ourselves with warming foods, create quieter and spaciousness in our days, and find ways to root deeply into the present moment. I’ve included some simple tips below to support you through the transition of the season later this month.
